UK and Europe, 2025, Day 3

When I went to write this one up I saw I only snapped a couple of pictures on this day. That’s because this was a day of rest and recovery. After sleeping for 9 hours I managed to sleep for another 4 hours before getting up at 9:15am local to have a yummy breakfast. I’d been outside most of the day yesterday and it was very cold and I’d seen the sites I wanted to see in Edinburgh so I wanted it to be an indoor day.

St. Cuthbert’s Church (see photo below from yesterday’s walk) was only a five minute walk from my hotel and had a 1pm Recovery Meeting. I headed over and was greeted warmly by a lovely group of folks.

St. Cuthbert’s Church

No pictures in the meeting of course being an Anonymous meeting. It was wonderful to hear the recovery message in Scottish accents.

After the meeting I walked over to a Christmas carnival close to the church. Games, food and kiddie rides surrounded this fountain with Edinburgh Castle in the background.

Enough walking around in the cold. Time to continue my indoor day so I headed to a theater and caught the 3:15pm showing of “Wicked, for Good.” Visually stunning as the first movie, the pacing was a bit slow for me and it lacked a lot of the cleverness from the onstage production. I personally would have preferred one movie that moved along at a quicker clip and left more to the imagination. But no one consulted with me so…

I’d been in the mood for fish and chips for a while so I grabbed this for dinner.

Scottish Haddock (you could tell by the accent) was delicious and a perfect way to end my day.

I went to bed early knowing I’d likely be up due to jet lag (it’s currently 3:30am as I write this). Tomorrow (today?) I head over to a vintage toy show close by and then take the train to Buxton.

Thanks for following along!
